This course is intended for those who already have basic DJing skills and want to deepen their practice, in particular with vinyl.

During the course, you will gain an understanding of the structure of a vinyl turntable, learn how to work with needles, cartridges, and tune the tonearm. We pay special attention to the technique of mixing records - you will work on manual skills and mixing accuracy.

In addition to technical aspects, we discuss how to build your way in a professional environment: where to look for and order records, how to build your own collection, and what you need to know for effective self-promotion.

As a result of the course, students have the opportunity to debut at a party and receive a set ready for publication.

1. The structure of vynil turntables

An introduction to Technics 1210 turntables. We’ll talk about their functions and features, and why this particular model became the most popular among DJs. You’ll learn how to place records correctly and how to take proper care of them.

2. Needles and Cartridges

An overview of various needle and cartridge models and manufacturers. What’s the difference between them and which ones are worth using. How to connect the needle and set up the turntable’s tonearm. What problems might arise, how to solve them, and how to avoid them.

3. Mixing Techniques on Vinyl Turntables

The specifics of mixing on vinyl. Techniques for working with track speed. How to mix different music styles. Practice sessions and honing your mechanical skills.

4. Styles and Music Genres

Helping you identify your musical genre. Discussion of the industry within your chosen genre. Possible paths of development. A breakdown of labels and artists working in your selected styles. In-depth exploration of your musical direction and how to refine it.

5. The Professional DJ Environment

Guidance on starting a professional career. How to communicate with clubs, venues, promo groups, and managers to find gigs. Tools and resources essential for growth in the DJ scene.

6. Digging

A deep dive into the process of music searching. We’ll introduce you to the most popular online platforms for buying DJ vinyl. You’ll learn how to dig and order records. We’ll also explain how vinyl labels operate — how records are produced and sold.

7. Graduation Party and Mix Recording

Your time to shine — and proof that you’re a real DJ. After completing the course, the most dedicated students are invited to perform at the graduation party at HVLV bar. We record mixes during the event, which can later be used as promo material for your future gigs.
